About this Course:
In this course you will learn the fundamental principles of Small Unit Tactics. This is the foundation of one's ability to maneuver through a contested environment as efficiently and securely as possible with an element, as well as the ability to conduct offensive actions against an adversary. In this introductory course you will learn Formations and Order of Movement, the principles of patrolling, basic Fire and Maneuver techniques, conducting a frontal assault as a team, conducting a flanking maneuver, understanding Individual Movement Techniques, basic security postures and defensive formations, as well as the identification and transversal of secure route plans as you move. This course will give the student the ground work and confidence in practical and repeatable tasks in which they can pass on, making themselves and asset to not only themselves, but others.
Class size: 20
2 squads of ten
Learning objectives:
- Understanding of the composition and reasoning of tactical formations.
- Be able to move in and lead said formations.
- Successfully move in a formation to a pre-determined point, while maintaining accountability of personnel and equipment.
- Be able to maneuver and communicate silently using Hand-signals
- Understand the difference between effective cover and concealment
- Successfully cross or bypass Linear Danger areas
- Successfully establish an Objective Rally Point.
- Successfully establish a Patrol Base (day light and dusk.)
- Understand how to set into an L-Shape ambush.
Course Time Commitment:
- Two days
start 0900 - 2000 (day 1).
0700- 1700 (day 2).
- 1 - 2 Hours of class time per day (pending student understanding and questions)
This class room setting will be outside.
Day 1:
- - 2 hours of Practical Application and Demonstration
- - 1 hour lunch break
- - 7 Hours of Practical Application and Demonstration
- - 1 hour dinner break
- - At 1900 hours we will be making movement into
- -Short Breaks when required
- There will be opportunity for hip pocket classes at the PB.
Day 2:
- 07:30 patrol back to classroom from our PB.
- - 1-2 Class room time.
- - 2 Hours of Practical Application and Demonstration
- - 1 hour Lunch Break
- - 4 Hours Practical Application and Demonstration
