Our Instructors...

Our instructors are composed of prior and active-duty military members, with backgrounds ranging from the Marine Corps and Army Infantry to Green Berets (18B, 18D series), and Ranger Regiment. Some of our instructors are not listed due to operational security requirements and restrictions.

 Mitch McSherry:

A native of central Pennsylvania, enlisted in the Marine Corps at 19, serving as an infantryman in 1st Battalion 3rd Marines. With a passion for combat skills, he transitioned to become an instructor at the USMC Close Quarters Battle schoolhouse, focusing on marksmanship, breaching, and tactics. Outside his teaching duties, Mitch enjoys competing in USPSA and Marine Corps shooting competitions, showcasing his dedication to honing his craft both in and out of the classroom.

Paul Liu-Gorman:

With a  background in the United States Marine Corps, Paul has served in various critical roles including as a TOW gunner in 2/8, a 50-caliber gunner in CAAT, and later progressed to become a team leader and section leader for a hunter killer section. Transitioning to instructional roles, he honed his expertise at WTBN Quantico, eventually becoming an instructor for the Advanced Marksmanship Training Program (AMTP) after serving as a FWIC instructor. Specializing in night vision and night engagement classes. Outside the military, he continues to excel in and competing in multiple disciplines such as USPSA, PCSL, and Quantified Performance.

Tyler S:

A native of Alabama, enlisted in the Army as an 11B infantryman and remains in active service. During his downtime, he enjoys participating in USPSA and IDPA competitions

Lenny:

Lenny is a Louisiana native joining the United States Army at the age of 21 as a 11B Infantryman . As an Active Duty service member, Lenny has served between  various roles, including M249 and M240L gunner, Grenadier, Rifleman, 240L Assistant Gunner, and Team Leader.  Previous to his military service, Lenny was an Eagle Scout, avid Trekker, Survivalist and Expeditionary, having trekked half of the Appalachian trail, portions of the Continental Divide Trail, and Various others in New Mexico, Oregon, Montana, Alaska and the Carolinas, at times having to go a week or more without established food or water resupply. Passionate about his crafts, outside of work Lenny studies SUT, Machine Gun Theory and CQB publications, attends Milsim West events, as well as competes in USPSA Official and Outlaw matches, and continues to test his survival and mountaineering skills.

Bryce M: 

From Kentucky, Bryce Joined the army at 18, developed a passion for amateur radio and communication solutions. He is our main comms instructor who has experience in VHF/UHF frequencies, programing digital and analog radios, also field craft antennas. Bryce has a background within small unit tactics, and brush craft.

John Doelle:

John D., a native of Central Florida, enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2014, starting as an Infantryman. Throughout his career, he has held roles such as part of the Recapture Tactics Team for Nuclear Security and Squad Leader in CAAT Platoon, 1st Battalion 6th Marines. He later became Chief Instructor of Close Quarters Battle School. John has also competed with the USMC Shooting Team in various states, including West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, and Montana in USPSA competitions. Currently serving as an Infantry Platoon Sergeant in 3d LAR, he continues to compete in USPSA and PCSL competitions outside of work.

Nate Kavakich:

Nate Kavakich, originally from a small coal town south of Pittsburgh in Washington County, enlisted in the Marine Corps at 18 as a Machine Gunner (0331). Throughout his service, he gained diverse experience, holding various roles within machine gun sections. Notably, he served with 1st Battalion 6th Marines, Alpha Company, and later with 2nd Battalion 8th Marines, Echo Company, until his EAS in 2022. Nate's background includes collaborating with partner nation forces during deployments and training exercises, as well as expertise in small unit tactics and sustainment.
