KDS Gas Gun Scoped Carbine/Rifle Training Course

Overview: This comprehensive, two-day training course is designed to equip shooters with essential skills for mid-to-long-range precision shooting using a gas gun platform with magnified optics. Through a combination of classroom instruction and live-fire exercises, participants will gain practical experience with fundamental and advanced techniques for accurate shooting in both day and night conditions. This course covers rifle setup, ballistics, optics, wind reading, and critical shot-placement techniques, providing an intensive learning experience for those looking to refine their skills or start their journey into precision shooting. Shooters will be shooting up to 800 meters.

  • Basic Optics Knowledge: Understanding magnified optics, mils, and MOA adjustments
  • Rifle Fitting & Optic Mounting: Proper rifle and optic setup for optimal shooting performance
  • Intro to Ballistics Calculations: Using ballistic calculators and Kestrel meters for trajectory and environmental adjustments
  • Wind Reading Fundamentals: How to read and adjust for wind effects on bullet path
  • Target Ranging Techniques: Ranging targets using optics alone
  • Shooting Positions & Development: Building stable shooting positions for varied engagement scenarios
  • Clip-On Optics & Night Vision Use: Set up and optimize thermal and night vision devices for low-light conditions
  • Hold Drills & Close-Range Engagements: Accurate hold adjustments for targets within 75m
  • Suppressor Point of Aim/Impact Shift: Adjustments for suppressor use
  • Shooter & Spotter Coordination: Effective teamwork for target acquisition and accuracy at distance
  • Fundamentals of Shot Calling: Techniques for calling shots and determining corrections

Day 1: Fundamentals and Day/Night Live Fire

Classroom Session (8:00 AM - 12:30 PM)

  • Basic Optics Overview: Knowledge check on magnified optics fundamentals
  • Rifle Fitting: Techniques for properly fitting a rifle to the shooter
  • Optic Mounting: Tools and steps required for securely mounting optics
  • Intro to Mils/MOA: Understanding mils and MOA for range and wind adjustments
  • Basic Ballistics Calculations: Using rifle data with basic ballistic calculators to establish holds

Live Fire Session (1:30 PM - Dusk)

  • Zeroing & Rifle Capability: Establish a baseline zero and explore rifle capabilities
  • Fundamentals & Shooting Positions: Emphasis on stable positions and rifle handling techniques
  • Position Development & Engagement: Practice position building and engagement accuracy
  • Speed Grouping: Drills for grouping shots quickly and accurately

Night Session

  • Clip-On Optics & Laser Zeroing: Overview of clip-on optics and laser zeroing techniques
  • Thermal vs. NV: Comparison of thermal and night vision capabilities for different scenarios
  • Clip-On Setup & Optimization: Setting up and optimizing clip-on gear
  • Illuminator Use: Using an illuminator to enhance night-time target visibility

Day 2: Advanced Techniques and Extended Range Engagements

Classroom Session (Start Time TBD - End by 12:30 PM)

  • Wind Reading Introduction: Fundamentals of wind reading and its effect on trajectory
  • Target Ranging: Techniques for ranging targets with optics alone
  • Ballistics & Lethal Zones: Understanding ballistics and identifying target lethal zones
  • Basic Shot Calling: Techniques for determining shot accuracy and identifying misses
  • Dialing vs. Holds: Practical discussion on when to dial vs. hold over for long-range shots

Live Fire Session (12:30 PM - Close of Business)

  • Optics-Only Ranging Practice: Engaging targets at 200m and beyond using only optics for range estimation
  • Target Transition Drills: Practicing transition between targets at different distances
  • Close-to-Far Transitions: Drills to develop quick transition from close-range to long-range targets
  • Hold Drills: Engaging targets within 75m using hold techniques
  • Tools Overview: Introduction to additional tools, including spotting scopes, shooting bags, and other accessories
  • Shooter/Spotter Coordination: Basics of effective shooter and spotter collaboration
  • Suppressor POA/POI Shift: Understanding the point of aim/point of impact shift when using a suppressor

 

Student Responsibilities

Students are responsible for bringing their own food and water to the course. While we will have water available on site, please ensure you have adequate provisions to stay nourished and hydrated throughout the training.

Refund Policy

Our refund policy is structured as follows, based on the timing of cancellation:

  • Full Refund: A full refund will be issued if the cancellation request is received more than 14 days before the start of the course.

  • Partial Refund: A partial refund of 50% of the course fee will be issued if the cancellation request is received between 7 to 14 days before the start of the course.

  • No Refund: No refund will be issued if the cancellation request is received less than 7 days before the start of the course or if the participant does not show up for the course.

Please note:

  • Refunds will be processed to the original payment method.
  • All refund requests must be made in writing via email to our enrollment team.
  • Refunds may take up to 14 days to process.
  • In cases where the course is canceled by us due to unforeseen circumstances or failure to meet the minimum enrollment requirement, a full refund will be issued automatically.
